DoodleCam (the "App") is an iOS app that turns photos into hand-drawn-style doodled images using AI. We respect your privacy and built the App to handle as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we use it.
1. Who we are
DoodleCam is operated by the developer publishing the App on the Apple App Store ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at amikoaiapp@gmail.com.
2. Information we process
The App processes the following information when you use it:
- Photos you choose to doodle. When you take a photo with the in-app camera or pick one from your photo library, the App sends that photo to our backend so it can be processed into a doodled version.
- Optional caption text. If you type a caption, that text is sent along with the photo.
- Optional date and location. If you enable the date or location chip, the App attaches today's date and/or a place name to the request. Location is only retrieved when you explicitly enable the Location toggle, and is converted to a human-readable place name on your device before being sent (we do not send precise coordinates).
- Doodle preferences. Style, density, frame, and similar choices are sent so the result matches your selections.
-
Caption language preference. Stored locally on your
device with
SharedPreferencesso the App remembers it between sessions. This never leaves your device on its own.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contact list. We do not include third-party advertising SDKs and do not track you across other apps or websites.
3. Permissions the App requests
- Camera — to capture photos in-app. Camera frames are only used to display the live preview and to capture the photo you choose to doodle.
- Photo Library (read) — so you can pick an existing photo, and to display the most recent thumbnail on the gallery tab.
- Photo Library (write) — so you can save a finished doodle to your Photos.
- Location (when in use) — only when you tap the Location chip. We use it once to look up a nearby place name and then discard the coordinates.
- Microphone — required by the underlying camera plugin even though we capture still photos only. We do not record audio.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
4. How your photo is processed
To generate a doodle, the App sends your selected photo and your doodle options to our backend, which is hosted on Google Firebase Cloud Functions. The backend forwards the photo and a generated text prompt to OpenAI's image generation API and returns the generated image to your device.
Photos are transmitted over HTTPS. Our backend does not write your photos to any database or persistent storage; the photo lives only in memory for the duration of the request. Once the request finishes, the photo is no longer available to us. OpenAI processes the photo subject to its own privacy policy and API data usage policy; under their current API terms, content sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models by default.
5. Server-side logs
Our backend writes operational logs (e.g., request timing, model used, success/failure, the size of the input image, and the doodle prompt generated from your options) to Google Cloud Logging. These logs do not contain the photo itself and do not include account identifiers, since the App has no accounts. Standard request metadata such as IP address may appear in infrastructure logs and is retained for a limited period consistent with Google Cloud's defaults.
6. Data we do not collect
- We do not collect or store the original photos beyond the request lifetime.
- We do not collect contact information unless you choose to email us for support.
- We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell or rent any information about you.
7. Children's privacy
DoodleCam is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly process information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the App, please contact us and we will delete anything related to the request from our logs.
8. International transfers
Our backend infrastructure runs in the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., the request is processed in the U.S. by Firebase and OpenAI.
9. Your choices and rights
Because the App does not store your photos or maintain accounts, there is generally nothing for us to delete on your behalf. You can:
- Stop sending photos to the App at any time by removing the App or revoking its permissions.
- Delete saved doodles from your Photos library directly on your device.
- Email amikoaiapp@gmail.com with questions or to request that we look up whether any operational log entry could be associated with your recent request.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be reflected in the App.
